Our Beliefs

Young LNP members are supporters, and the future, of the Liberal National Party of Queensland. Since 1949, we have provided a setting for young people aged between 16 and 30 to express their political views and contribute to the shaping of the political landscape. By standing up for individual liberty, equal opportunity and the market economy, we seek to provide the LNP with progressive, centre-right ideas, and ensure the voice of young people is heard strongly within and outside the party.

These values are fundamental to our philosophy:

  • Preservation of the Westminster system of government with Parliament controlling the executive and the law controlling all

  • Defending the independence of the judiciary, the separation of powers and the rule of law

  • Recognition of federal, state and local government within the framework of federalism

  • Freedom of conscience, speech, religion, association and the media

  • Freedom of citizens to choose their own way of living subject to the rights of others, the laws of the land and the protection of private property

  • Encouragement of individual initiative and private enterprise as the dynamic force of social and economic progress

  • Government enabling a just and humane society, where those who cannot provide for themselves can live in dignity and equality before the law is upheld

  • Equal opportunity for all Queenslanders in a tolerant and diverse society without exploitation and free from conformity

  • The encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice

  • Preserving Australia’s climate and natural environment for future generations

  • A spirit of patriotism in which all Australians are united in the common service of their country and accept the necessity of defending their nation in times of crisis or adversity

  • A secure environment in which Australia is safe from aggression and plays its part in world security and diplomacy in defence of peace and the liberal democratic order
